Letter to Viggo Mortensen

Open letter from martin ziegler to Viggo Mortensen

Wednesday 14 July 2021,

Bonjour Viggo Mortensen,

Dear Viggo Mortensen,

I am a modest and humble director of movies. I do not have neither the skills nor the possibilities, that you possess and that would allow me to make a tragic and wonderful film based on the story of my parents during the Second World War in Germany, Russia and France (like yours their origins link them to many countries of the world…). This film — which would be based on two of my books (especially on Les Images d’un silence), previously published in Paris — would not only evoke the war, but also the most terrible intimate, cultural, linguistic and spiritual situations that accompany such a time.
If such a project could interest you, someone who loves the arts and poetry as you, it would be a great pleasure for me to send you a summary of the scenario I have in mind (one we could create together: me the substance, you the refinements and dialogues). I would obviously let you choose the cast, since I had you in mind for my father’s role!

Looking forward to your reply!
Best regards,

Martin Ziegler
