Thank you!
Dear Mr. Christophe Offenstein,
I'd like to share with you our story and thank you, your extraordinary crew and of course Mr. Francois Cluzet, the leading actor.
My name is Oded Rahav and I'm part of a six swimmers team who last week broke the world record in open water swimming; 380 KM relay swim from Cyprus to Israel, and were the first in the history to swim this part of sea. By doing so we also wanted to raise awareness to the need of a clean Mediterranean for the future to come.
We jumped into the water of Paphos on the 5th Oct 14:20 and reached our Israeli coast on 10th Oct at 17:30.
4 days prior to our adventure, Amosi, one of the swimmers, suggested we have a night out as part of the team bonding, and watch a movie together. He suggested "En Solitaire".
We couldn't ask ourselves for a better choice!
Your epic film brings about all those experiences that a man encounters when dealing with the almighty sea, and which most of them we have actually met during our journey- facing ones' destiny, the challenge, fear of the unknown, darkness, altering weather, dilemmas, decisions, friendship, vitality, mental strength, concerns and at some points (especially at the very end) - the joy of achievement.
And all along the way there was that vast and endless view of the sea, 6 sunrises, 6 sunsets, and the never-ending sky.
For more than 5 days we had the chance to feel the whole repertoire of the great Mediterranean Sea; winds, waves, calm water, positive & cross currents, and some 12 dolphins that on the second evening, when the cross current halted us, swam with us for 7 consecutive hours, lifted our spirits and made us feel as part of the being.
Your movie, so wonderfully led by Mr. Francois Cluzet, a great actor and very much admired here in Israel, gave us all the energy, courage and inspiration before setting sales. Our adrenaline reached the necessary peak and thus served us as an ultimate "kick off" for this swim.
