Letter to Clint Eastwood
Open letter from Valeria to Clint Eastwood
“A small ‘mole’”
Saturday 19 November 2022,
Buongiorno Mr. Eastwood,
in two words I would like to express my admiration not only for you as an actor but also as a director and as a person, at least for what transpires from your works. More than once your works have been a great inspiration for me and my family! For many years I have been thinking about being able to tell you a small mole that I found in one of your movies ‘The bridges of Madison County’: the cross that Francesca should have received from her aunt in is an Irish cross, perhaps a tribute to your origins, but I sincerely doubt that in Assisi they have ever sold that form of sacred object, it is not part of the Latin culture, which uses a cross with the vertical axis a little longer than the horizontal one or at most the "Tao" shape of the Franciscans . I'd like to know if you did it on purpose or if it was an "oversight".
With great admiration and gratitude, Valeria
